World Animal Day

17-07-2024

4.10. has been a holiday of all animal lovers and protectors since 1931. !

To this day, man has caused the extinction of many animal species. He uses a large number of animals in various experiments, kills them for fun, for fur. A large number of animals die in slaughterhouses, in passionate conditions in circuses and various zoos. Inhumane treatment by which a man really should remain ashamed and punished.

Animal protection is needed. Therefore, there are various laws that seek to protect, that seek to put an end to unethical treatment. That is why the European Convention for the Protection and Welfare of Animals was adopted, and in Croatia the Animal Protection Act and a number of ordinances.

As the most endangered species in our country, we must certainly point out the griffon vulture, wolves and lynxes, the Mediterranean bear, the Croatian gecko, dolphins and whales, and the periscope. There are a large number of still protected reptiles, birds, turtles and amphibians. Strictly protected species are prohibited from hunting and killing, destroying their habitats as well as areas where they rest or reside.

While there are laws, rules, orders and regulations, it should go a step further. World Animal Day as such should be every day. That there is no day in which we will call the world to humanity and humane treatment, but truly celebrate the beauty of the animal world.
"Animals are the bridge between us and the beauty of all that is natural. They show us what's missing in our lives, and how to love ourselves more completely and unconditionally. They connect us back to who we are, and to the purpose of why we're here. " - Trisha McCagh
