Today’s Split is the handiwork of seventeen centuries of men and women building and remodeling, adding, tearing down and touching up, so that 18th-century houses intersect with ancient Roman walls and fourth chambers now house the twentieth-century apartments. At the core of this sprawling cityscape is the palace the emperor Diocletian built for his golden years at the turn of the fourth century. Today's lunch will be the traditional Dalmatian dish prepared for us at the Tragos restaurant in Trogir. The town of Trogir, a UNESCO site, has a fascinating 2300 years of continuous urban tradition. Its rich culture was created under the influence of old Greeks, Romans, and Venetians. With the high concentration of palaces, churches, and towers, as well as a fortresses on a small island, Trogir is sometimes referred to as the floating museum town.

  • I have recently returned from your Croatian Rhapsody tour and would like to express my gratitude for what a good tour you put together. It was well paced and an interesting tour of the Croatian coastline. The accommodation was good and centrally located. The local guides very knowledgeable and the time spent in each city sufficient. Given that our group size was 25 made it more personal. Our driver and guide Zoran was excellent and always very helpful and well organised. He is an asset to your organisation.

  • Recently - April - my wife and I went on a Croatian Rhapsody tour.  Our Tour Guide/bus driver was Zoran. I am writing to you to express our gratitude to the manner in which the tour was conducted and the professional manner in which Zoran conducted himself.  Zoran MADE the tour.

  • Recently I was part of the Croatian Rhapsody tour.  I wanted to make you aware of the precious asset you have in Zoran.  He is a knowledgeable, caring, compassionate, and talented individual. His driving skills are excellent and as a group, we never felt unsafe.  He is flexible when necessary and punctual when required. Memorizing names in a group is no easy task, yet he masters it promptly.  His multi-tasking skills are legendary and like a momma bear herding her cubs, he keeps an eye on everyone to maintain safety.  As a driver AND a guide at the same time, he excels.

Luckily we were in a small group of 17.  I highly recommend this kind of group ratio as it fosters relationships between individual travellers and allows a thorough experience of your country.  Zoran is the best driver in Croatia.

Thank you for providing the means to visit Croatia.

  • Hi, I just wanted pass on my compliments for your organizing of our trip to Croatia last week.

We had a great trip.  The group seemed to mesh and enjoy each other.  Zoran, our driver, guide, and helpful companion throughout the trip was great!  He was full of fun anecdotes, good tips, and helpful info.  The different tastings were excellent (wine, truffles, oysters, etc).  The local guides were all well-qualified and informative.  The hotels were all nice.  Sometimes we were maybe a bit early season for some of the amenities.  The meals were all fairly enjoyable except for maybe the first dinner in Zagreb.  It is a great itinerary that lets you get a very comprehensive views of the country, and I would definitely recommend this trip to others.
Many thanks!  Keep up the good work!

  • My daughter and I just came back from the Croatia tour with Friendly Planet.   Our Croatian tour guide and driver was Zoran. Zoran was knowledgeable, personable, and very genuine. He engaged everyone in the group and brought a lot of energy throughout the whole trip. He loves Croatia but he was balanced in his viewpoints and opinions. He showed us the good and the bad. I appreciated his honesty.  He made the trip more colorful and rich.   By the way, he is a fantastic driver.

  • I am writing to tell you about the trip that my husband and myself took on the Markan (voyage commencing the 15. 07. 22). We are not normally advocates of cruising and it was by chance we discovered your company and the trip along the Croatian Coast and islands. It was a region that I wished to visit but never fancied cruising. As our retired lives have been exceptionally busy doing voluntary jobs as well as supporting our daughter who has terminal cancer the Marian cruise was what we needed to recharge our batteries. I feel that is right to tell you that the experience was wonderful and we are determined to repeat the experience cruising further south to the Southern islands. What made it so special was that the holiday was exactly as it had been marketed - relaxing, friendly with the first-class quality of accommodation and service. The captain crew and guide were not only kind and hospitable but highly professional making our holiday a ‘bespoke experience’. We would like to repeat this experience next year as I have already mentioned. It would be great if the Captain, Crew and Guide could be told of our sincere thanks and appreciation. Yours Sincerely,

  • We were so pleased that we chose a bus tour over a cruise.  We learnt so much about the country and its history and the people in general.

The tour operator Zoran was incredibly knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour.  He was prompt, informed us the day before what we were going to experience and helped wherever he needed to.  The transport was in a luxury bus and we had a fantastic group of travellers with us.  Zoran made the difference between a good tour and a great tour. He went beyond the call of duty to ensure everyone was happy.

We  had accommodation in 4 star luxury hotels which were superb.

The tour included most of the places of interest and I am amazed how many places  we visited.

Our sincere thanks to Thompsons travel, Katarina Line and Zoran Vitas for an unforgetable trip.  We would certainly recommend this tour to other potential travellers.

    With kind regards
