Lastovo is the largest island of the homonymous archipelago. The Romans called this island The Imperial Island and it is often considered one of the most beautiful Croatian islands. From 1976 until 1989, Lastovo was a military base for the Yugoslavian Army and therefore organised tourism never existed here. That is one of the reasons why the island kept its natural wooded beauty and sense of isolation.
This is a very peaceful place. The main town of the island is also called Lastovo and is located inland. Your ship will dock in a small town called Ubli from where you can take a taxi or a local bus to the town of Lastovo, to Hum (the highest peak of the island for beautiful views, on a bright and sunny day you can even see the Italian coast) and to Pasadur (a small coastal place not far from Ubli where the only hotel is located).
The central town of the island is located inland, not by the coast, which is very unusual for the islands. This is because the inhabitants had to hide from the pirates who tried to conquer this island many times during history. Lastovo town is a very picturesque place with old stone houses set on a slope and we strongly recommend you visit.
Lastovo archipelago is a protected Nature Park area and a small fee is required. In Ubli you can also rent a scooter and drive across the island. If you feel like you are up to it, you can also rent a bike, there is no heavy traffic and there are many off-road paths as well. Most restaurants and cafes are located in the centre of Ubli, and the only hotel on the island is in Pasadur, where you can also order a-la-carte meals.
Discover the untouched beauty of Lastovo, an enchanting island in the Adriatic Sea. Known for its stunning landscapes, crystal-clear waters, and starry nights, Lastovo is a haven for nature lovers and adventurers alike.
