For Captain Petar Karaman, the sea is more than a career—it’s a family legacy. After graduating from the Maritime Faculty in Split, he spent a decade working as an engine officer aboard merchant ships, followed by 12 years as a technical inspector—five of those based in Singapore. But one dream always stayed afloat in his heart: to one day build a ship of his own.
That dream became reality in 2018, when M/V Markan was launched.
The name? A tribute to his late father, Marko, known to all as Markan, who began the Karaman family’s maritime story back in the late 1960s with a small, weathered cargo boat. More than just a pioneer, he was a mentor—passing down his knowledge, work ethic, and love for the sea to his sons with quiet determination and sea salt in his veins.
